Eyelink Toolbox Mac 1.4.4

This version (27 November 2002) has been tested with Matlab 5.2.1 (regular), PsychToolbox 2.5.2 (screen pre-release 2.5.3), Mac OS 9.2.2 and works only on PPC.

What about a Mac OS X version?

• The present version does work in classic mode under os x, but just don't trust this to be a good idea for doing actual experiments. See our faq for questions and answers about eyelink toolbox and mac OS X.

The Win and Mac Eyelink toolbox folders include files of three kinds: M, DLL, and MEX. The filenames end with ".m", ".dll", or ".mex". The M files contain text, Matlab programs, and should run identically on Mac and Win platforms. (The Win and Mac M files have different line endings.) The MEX and DLL files are binary executable extensions to MATLAB. Win:MATLAB uses the DLL files and Mac:MATLAB uses the MEX files.

Eyelink Toolbox PC 1.4.4

This version (27 November 2002) has been reported to work with Matlab 6.5 (regular), PsychToolbox 2.5.4, Windows 98, 2000, XP.

Download toolbox (~0.5 MB).

Important notes:

• There's a faq list with some questions and answers.
• The windows version also requires that you have the libraries (dll's) installed that came with the Eyelink software. Not having the proper dll's installed may lead to somewhat obscure error messages. Follow this link for info.
• You need to update the Eyelink Experiment Toolkit to version 2.0 (thanks to Kristian Lukander for pointing this out). The Eyelink II Host PC Software can be found at www.eyelinkinfo.com, go to Support, then to Resource Center.
• There's no communication between operator PC and subject PC during image-mode display (i.e. when the eye -image is on the subject pc screen)
• On PC "built-in" driftcorrection and trackersetup functions are NOT implemented. Use the m-file versions instead (it's not a bug, it's a feature :-)
• PC version requires latest update of getchar.dll ("GetCharWithTicks" update).

C source files

Very few users of the Eyelink Toolbox will want to get into the C source code, but it's available if you want it. It's not released under any particular license right now, just be fair about using it.

Data analysis

The eyelinktoolbox does not contain routines for analysing eye-movement data.

developed some routines to read ascii files produced by Eyelink.
